Modern Foreign Languages

At Acre Hall it is the intention of our MFL curriculum to cultivate an interest in, and develop a thirst for learning other languages. We aim to introduce the learning of the Spanish language and the understanding of its culture in enjoyable and inspiring ways. Another aim is to introduce our children to languages which are purposeful to our children, this may be languages linked to topics that the children are learning about or languages that are linked with people in our family or wider community.

Children will leave Acre Hall being proficient in all four skills of language learning: listening, reading, speaking and writing. Our scheme of work will enable our children to meet the end of Key Stage Attainment targets outlined in the National Curriculum. Our goal is to nurture a love of, and lay strong foundations for future language learning. Our children will leave Acre Hall with the ability to speak Spanish with increasing confidence, fluency and spontaneity, finding ways of communicating what they want to say, including through discussion and asking questions, and continually improving the accuracy of their pronunciation and intonation. Our Spanish curriculum supports our curriculum drivers of ‘clear communicators’ and ‘Global Citizens’ and ‘Adventurers & Explorers’.
